This week I had the absolute pleasure of being interviewed on Sonshine Radio, where I spoke about something very close to my heart — the benefits of decluttering and how I found my way into this work.

It was such a warm, uplifting conversation, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share not only practical tips, but also the deeper emotional impact that decluttering can have on our lives.

How I Got Into This Work

During the interview, I was asked how I began working in decluttering and organising — and honestly, it wasn’t something I originally planned as a career.

Like many people, I experienced seasons in life where things felt overwhelming. Busy schedules, responsibilities, life transitions — it all adds up. I started noticing how much our physical environment affects our mental and emotional wellbeing. Clutter isn’t just “stuff.” It can represent postponed decisions, stress, grief, or simply life moving too fast.

What began as helping friends and family create calm, functional spaces gradually became something much bigger. I realised this work isn’t about perfection — it’s about peace. It’s about helping people breathe again in their own homes.

Over time, my passion grew into a profession. Now, I support clients in creating homes that feel lighter, more manageable, and aligned with the life they want to live.

What We Talked About: The Benefits of Decluttering

On Sonshine Radio, we explored the powerful benefits of decluttering — and they go far beyond having a tidy house.

1. Mental Clarity

When your environment is cluttered, your mind often feels the same way. Removing physical excess reduces visual noise and creates space to think clearly.

2. Reduced Stress

Clutter can quietly elevate stress levels. When surfaces are clear and systems are simple, daily life feels easier and more in control.

3. Better Productivity

It’s much easier to focus and complete tasks when you’re not constantly distracted by piles, mess, or unfinished organising decisions.

4. Improved Relationships

Believe it or not, clutter can create tension in households. When shared spaces function well, conflict often decreases.

5. Emotional Freedom

Letting go of items tied to guilt, obligation, or the past can feel incredibly liberating. Decluttering can be deeply healing.

It’s Not About Throwing Everything Away

One of the key points I shared during the interview is that decluttering is not about being ruthless or minimalistic unless that’s what you want.

It’s about:

  • Being intentional

  • Keeping what serves you

  • Letting go of what no longer aligns

  • Creating systems that support your real life

Small, consistent steps are far more powerful than dramatic overhauls.

The Heart Behind What I Do

What I loved most about the conversation on Sonshine Radio was being able to talk about the heart behind this work. Decluttering isn’t just organising drawers — it’s supporting people through life changes, transitions, and fresh starts.

Whether someone is downsizing, navigating loss, welcoming a new baby, or simply feeling overwhelmed, this work is about compassion and practical support.

Helping people transform their homes into calmer, more functional spaces is such a privilege.

A Final Thought

If there’s one thing I hope listeners took away from the interview, it’s this:

You don’t have to do it all at once.
Start with one drawer. One shelf. One corner.

Small changes create momentum — and momentum creates transformation.

Thank you again to Sonshine Radio for having me. It was an honour to share my story and my passion.

If you heard the interview, I’d love to know your biggest takeaway. 💛
