The Great Fire: Why Decluttering is Your “Cool Down” in Period 9
It is fascinating how we strive to find meaning in all the chaos. For me, the last two years have been a personal “wake-up call.” After 20 years of studying with Diamond Way Buddhism, my journey into Feng Shui led me to a foreign and profound territory: Chinese Astrology (BaZi).
What I’ve discovered is that the “watered-down” versions of astrology we see online—the ones designed to give us quick, “buzzed-up” hope—are missing the deeper truth. We are living through a pivotal, fast, and fiery transformation, and if we aren’t prepared, we risk being consumed by the heat.
The Peak of the Flame
We have officially entered Period 9, a 20-year cycle governed by the Fire Element.
When you look at the world today, you see it everywhere. The war at hand with AI and Oil—these elements are “hot at heart” and electric. They are powerful and vital for life, but they are also volatile.
In Chinese Astrology, when we see a Fire Horse (Fire on top of Fire) occurring within a Fire Age, we are at the peak of an energetic furnace. This isn’t just about your Chinese Zodiac animal; that is just the tip of the iceberg of your Four Pillars of Destiny. This is about a global “overheating” of our minds, our tech, and our tribes.
Submerging in “Water”
How do we survive an era that is “Fire on Fire”? We must find the Water.
In my practice at Declutter with Kiah, I see clutter as “fuel” for that fire. Physical mess creates mental friction, and friction creates heat. When your home is crowded, the energy
Qi cannot flow; it stagnates and boils.
To navigate this “fiery” time, we must:
Cool the Space: Simplify your surroundings to create “yin” (quiet/still) energy.
Find Your Tribe: Fire brings us together, but we must choose which side of the hearth we sit on. Are we building a community, or are we fueling a conflict?
Embrace the Self: Use this time for deep, internal reflection—the “submerging” of the soul in wisdom.
